Features of Ruukki products

Ruukki is primarily recognized in Russia for its facade and roofing materials rather than its infrastructure projects. Ruukki, depending on installation technology, are made of folding sheets, corrugated board, or metal tiles and have a minimum 30-year lifespan. In any event, the manufacturer provides this minimal guarantee under the first quality category.

Quality categories Ruukki

Ruukki introduced quality categories, or classes of materials, to make the process of comparing and selecting a facade coating or roofing system easier. Ruukki classifies all of the materials into three groups:

  1. Ruukki The basic category of quality, which includes materials with Polyester coating. The company guarantees that they will last at least 30 years and retain their appearance at least 10 years.
  2. Ruukki 40. It is considered the optimal category of Ruukki: prices for materials from steel with Purex TM coating are relatively affordable, while they have a long service life and high resistance to chemical and mechanical influences. Warranty for technical characteristics – 40 years, for aesthetic – 15 years.
  3. Ruukki 50+. A premium category, which includes roofing and facade materials with a service life of more than 50 years. Usually these are building materials with Pural® and Pural® Matt coatings, but this category also includes facade cladding made of copper, aluminum, stainless steel and other metals that are especially resistant to corrosion. Warranty for appearance – from 20 years.

Ruukki’s budget materials have a long guarantee period. For wall and roofing coatings with a polyester protective layer, the typical warranty duration is 20 years; however, certain manufacturers offer a 25-year warranty. The cost is one factor contributing to this discrepancy. Therefore, even the most basic series of Ruukki metal tiles cost 680 rubles per square meter, while Grandline and metal-based metal profiles cost 380 and 280 rubles per square meter, respectively. In other words, there are no economy class materials in the Ruukki assortment; instead, roofing coatings—which are typically classified as belonging to the "Standard" class in Russia—are the first in line.

Types of coatings

Ruukki uses eight different types of polymer coatings on thin-leaf steel to produce roofing and facade materials.

  1. Polyester. Basic and most common polyester coating with a smooth glossy surface. In addition to a relatively low price, this coating is popular thanks to a palette of 36 available colors.
  2. RopeMattPolyester. A matte rough coating of polyester, the service life of which is slightly larger than that of the usual glossy polyester due to greater thickness and resistance to UV rays.
  3. GreencoatPurex (CrownBT). The premium coating of the latter generation, which practically does not fade in the sun. It can be glossy and matte, while matte material has a very high color repeatability, which allows you to use it on large objects.
  4. Greencoat Pural BT. Improved polyurethane coating based on biotechnology: In its production, traditional oil products are replaced by more environmentally friendly rapeseed oil. The coating is very resistant to wear, the effects of ultraviolet radiation and aggressive chemicals. Steel with this coating is glossy, but slightly rough to the touch.
  5. GreencoatPuralBTMatt. Differs from Greencoat Pural BT only with a matte surface. Otherwise – completely identical coatings.
  6. Greencoat Hiarc. Polyvinylenfluoride coating (PVDF) is very resistant to UV rays and atmospheric influences, can be painted in metallic colors and, moreover, longer than other coatings remains clean. Therefore, steel Greencoat Hiarc is often used to produce facade materials.
  7. Greencoat Cool. Energy -efficient coating that can maintain a relatively low temperature under the influence of direct sunlight. Roofing and facade materials with Greencoat Cool coating are usually used in places with hot climate, as well as for buildings in which it is important to maintain a low temperature.
  8. Greencoat Pro BT. The coating very resistant to mechanical and chemical influences, which in terms of durability is only slightly inferior to Greencoat Pural, but an affordable palette in the coatings of the Pro series is greater – 26 colors against 17.

All polymer coatings, regardless of type, are applied to steel with a galvanizing density of 275 g/m 2. Additionally, it lengthens the materials’ lifespan. In contrast, corrugated board and steel metal tiles with a zinc layer density of 180 g/m 2 or even 140 g/m 2 are frequently found in the Russian market.

Roofing materials

Ruukki uses steel to create three different kinds of roofing materials:

  • metal tile;
  • corrugated and supporting corrugated board;
  • Falts roof paintings.

Ruukki metal tiles are well-known in Russia, of course, but the popularity of this material among local developers can be attributed to the Finns.

Ruukki metal metal

In ruukki, stability and dependability are the two guiding concepts. Instead of focusing on increasing the quantity of profile forms, the Finnish company continuously enhances the types of metal tiles that have already been proven to be stronger, more flexible, durable, easier to install, and seal. Consequently, there are only six profiles in the metal tile from manufacturer Ruukki:

  1. Monterrey. Universal metal -shaped metal tile with smooth waves, a wide “bottom” and a narrow “crest”. Due to the small height of the wave of 39 mm, it looks carefully on the roof. Metal tile with the largest selection of colors and the only one available in three quality categories at once.
  2. Finnera. Modular metal tile, which is convenient to transport, store and mount alone. During installation, a minimum of waste is formed, and the shape of the sheet is made in such a way as to provide the illusion of a seamless connection. Dimensions – 1190 × 685 mm, length – two waves. The Finnera metal sheet is covered with a protective layer of Purex, so the material belongs to the category of quality ruukkki 40.
  3. FinneraPlus. Modification of Finnera metal tiles three waves instead of two.
  4. Adamante. Stylish metal tile with a high profile height – 55 mm. Cool high steps and transitions between the waves create an expressive pattern on the roof of the house and, at the same time, allow ADAMANTE metal tiles to remove moisture from the roof. Produced in quality categories Ruukki 40 and Ruukki 50+.
  5. Elite. The elegant Finnish metal tile Ruukki, in which the classic Monterrey profile is combined with a high -height of the ADAMANTE wave – 60 mm. It looks great on the roofs of modern houses and is well suited for installation in areas with a high snow load. Quality category Ruukki 50+.
  6. Armorium. Metal tile with the highest wave height – 80 mm. It looks very contrasting on the roof and excellently takes water from it. Quality category – Ruukki 40 and Ruukki 50+.

We provide the profile schemes and an image of each type of metal tile for clarity’s sake:

The six different kinds of metal tiles are the outcome of ongoing research and development. As a result, you can purchase metal tiles with any profile with confidence, and they will always effectively prevent leaks on the house’s roof. Even minimally overlapped modular sheets are hermetic and guaranteed to last for at least forty years.

If you cannot understand which metal tile is better in your case, when choosing, relying the service life and climatic conditions in the construction area. In the southern and central regions of Russia, in most cases, Monterrey metal tiles are suitable, it is better to lay a coating with a high wave height on the roof in the north. If there are no salty ponds, enterprises, heat stations and loaded vehicles near the house, then material with a conventional polyester coating is enough to cover the roof. If the conditions are unfavorable, it is better to choose coating of the second and third quality category. The cost of metal tiles of these categories is higher, but it will last in such conditions much longer.

Falts roof Ruukki

Constructing a folding roof is Ruukki’s second most crucial roof direction. She creates long polymer-coated steel sheets that are referred to as paintings ready for hanging. The most dependable kind of folder connection is a double standing fold, which joins two separate paintings together. Because of this, the Ruukki folding roof is waterproof and suitable for stacking on very mild surfaces, with a minimum slope angle of just 8 °.

There are four different kinds of paintings on the Ruukki Falts roof:

  1. Classic a. Classic folding paintings with a smooth surface of steel 0.5 mm thick with Polyester coating. Quality category Ruukki 30. On cornice overhangs are attached to self -tapping screws.
  2. ClassicB. The folding paintings differ from the Classic a of the Classic A of the two stiffeners, sold on 1/3 and 2/3 of the sheet width. Suitable for installation on roofs in regions with large snow and wind loads.
  3. Classic s. Falts paintings with a curved front edge, which allows you to install them without fastening with self -tapping screws on the cornice. Made of steel with a thickness of 0.5-0.6 mm, quality categories –Ruukki 40 and ruukki 50+.
  4. ClassicD. The same as Classic C, but with additional stiffeners.

Falts roofs are a lovely, classic roofing material that overlap. You can judge for yourself how well the folding roof appears in the picture. It appears sturdy and upright.

Furthermore, folding compounds keep their tightness for a very long time. There are examples of old houses with metal roofs that have been in good condition for over a century. However, the metal used to make them is far lower quality than that of Ruukki paintings. However, one crucial requirement for such durability is skillful installation. Thus, ensure that you have adherent masters with the necessary qualifications to properly block the roof with this material before purchasing a fake roof. Use corrugated board or metal tile, which are simpler materials, to overlap the roof if you are unsure whether you can locate such specialists.

Corrugated board Ruukki

Profiled Ruukki sheets are not popular in Russia. This has two reasons: price and non -standard profile. Everything is clear with the price: unlike metal tiles, corrugated board is considered budget material, therefore, the Finnish professionalist is often preferred by a cheaper Russian -made corrugated board. And non -standard, both in the height of the wave and in shape, the profile even more limits the use of corrugated board Ruukki. For example, in the assortment of the company there are not even direct analogues of popular brands of corrugated board C21 and C8. Instead, Ruukki has a whole line of profiles with a profiling depth of 17 mm – too small for fastening on the roof in Russian winter conditions.

Profile Wave height, mm Useful width, mm Features of the profile
T15-115V-1134 13 1134 The upper shelves are slightly concave in the center. This increases the bearing capacity and provides the best flow of water.
T20-24-1100 17 1100 Asymmetric profile with a wide lower shelf (78.5 mm) and narrow upper (23.5 mm).
T20-79-1100 17 1100 "Turned" T20-24-1100 with a wide shelf at the top and narrow at the bottom.
T20-72-1090 17 1090 Asymmetric profile with a wide upper shelf (70 mm) and narrow lower (30 mm).
T20-42S-1070 18 1070 Symmetric profile with a wave height 42 mm
T45-37-900 41 900 Asymmetric profile for roofs and facades with a relatively high bearing capacity.
T45-95E-1025 40 1025 Asymmetric profile with a narrow lower wave (30 mm) and wide upper (95 mm).

Whatever the type, Professor Ruukki is produced in all three quality categories.

Roof and roofing elements

Apart from the roofing coatings, Ruukki manufactures nearly every part and material required for their application. comprising roof accessories, gutters, safety features, and shaped elements.

Ruukki roof planks

The curved components known as contained strips are ideal for ornamenting intricate areas of the roof, such as areas where the roofing terminates or joints occur. These include the horse, the cornice and pedimental overhangs, the wall adjustment locations, the furnace and ventilation pipe passage through the roof, and the endovs. In addition to maintaining the tightness of the roofing in these kinds of places, the roof bar keeps the rafter system’s boards dry.

The kind of material for which shaped elements are intended determines their sizes and shapes. For instance, the cornice strips for the folding roof are thinner than those for the metal tile roofing, but they feature a unique "visor" that enables you to hook the Classic C and D paintings using a Karezniy bend without the need for self-tapping screws. In the picture, both roof strips are displayed for visual comparison:

As a result, purchasing intricately shaped components from the same manufacturer as the roofing is advised. If the typical L-shaped apron or adjoining planks for a brick pipe passing through the roof can still be bent into position, then it will be nearly impossible to replicate the shape of intricate additional elements using makeshift tools.

The mounted shaped elements guarantee that the weakest areas of the roof are kept tight. This implies that they ought to be constructed from steel that matches the remaining roofing in terms of color and classification. You shouldn’t wait 50 years for the roof if you purchase an expensive roofing system with a quality category of Ruukki 50+ but supply it with inexpensive premature strips of Ruukki 30 or entirely made of steel with unknown characteristics. She will probably require repairs earlier than anticipated.

Ruukki drainage system

The sturdy Ruukki drainage system is composed of steel with a 0.6 mm thickness and a novel polymer coating called Greencoat RWS. Because of the polymer granules in the coating, it is highly resistant to mechanical damage and abrasion. This enables the manufacturer to provide a 20-year guarantee for drains.

Ruukki drainage system is resistant to harsh chemicals, does not deteriorate over time, and can withstand temperatures as high as 100 °C without losing its qualities. She also has four additional benefits:

  1. Convenient mount on the wall with an eccentric lock, which is blocked by a conventional screwdriver.
  2. Ruukki drains from different parties in color are almost identical.
  3. Seven flowers palette – Ruukki gutters of the roof is harmoniously combined with any type of roofing coatings.
  4. Two types of sizes so that sanitation can be organized both from the roofs of small houses and from the roofs of large public and industrial buildings.

The primary disadvantage of its drainage system, as with all Ruukki materials, is its cost. He is somewhat conditional, though. Yes, the cost of the Ruukki drainage system is significantly higher than that of inexpensive gutters. However, the initial high costs are offset by a much longer service life; by the time Ruukki’s gutters require repairs, cheap gutters will already need to be replaced two or three times. Consequently, it is frequently more profitable to purchase standard and premium drainage systems and roof accessories at a distance rather than installing low-cost gutters.

The diagram displays the primary components of the Ruukki drainage system:

Ruukki roof safety elements

There are two types of roof safety components:

  1. Snow holders and snow cutters – roofing elements that prevent the uncontrolled gathering of dense layers of snow from slopes.
  2. Roof: roofing bridges, stairs, fences. They are needed to safely move people on the roof.

If bridges and stairs on private houses practically do not put, then snow retainers are needed on the slopes of almost any roof. The fact is that the snow that fell on the roof is a layer behind the layer and, sooner or later, the resulting layer, weighing tens and even hundreds of kilograms, slides off the ramp and breaks down down. With this weight and inertia, he literally blows everything that he meets in the way: wood, car, canopy, man. Therefore, for the sake of your own safety, it is better to buy roof safety elements and install them on the slopes of the house. Except when there is nothing under the slopes, and you are absolutely sure that people will not go there.

Ruukki roof membrane

Ruukki recently started producing roofing membranes at the premium level and broadened its selection of roofing materials. This is a multi-layer material that is extremely durable. It is made up of two non-woven paintings above and below the membrane and a waterproofing film in the middle. This construction offers superior waterproofing and material resistance against mechanical harm. Furthermore, a bilateral self-adhesive layer is present along the edges of the Ruukki roof membrane, which allows the waterproofing strips to adhere to each other adversely and consistently without compromising the surface’s integrity.

There are now just two types of roof membranes available for purchase:

  • Ruukki 125 Fix – basic three -layer membrane;
  • Ruukki 150 Fix – a membrane of increased strength with an additional reinforcing layer.

For all kinds of roofing coatings, both varieties of roof membranes are ideal as waterproofing materials.

Accessories for the roof

Accessories such as tape taps, ventilation pipes, fasteners, roofing, and metal tiles are essential for roofs made of corrugated board and folding paintings. And Ruukki lets out everything that might be required for roof sealing, fastening, and ventilation. Subject to certain limitations, Ruukki’s thin-leaved steel roofing coatings and corrugated board accessories fall into four basic categories:

  1. Sealing elements (soundproofing tapes, universal seals).
  2. Fasteners.
  3. Ventilation and smoke removal (ventilation pipes and fire hatches).
  4. Hermination of holes in the roof (roofing, cornice grille, self -adhesive adjustment tape).

Naturally, other manufacturers’ accessories can be used in place of all these Ruukki ones. Although it will be less expensive, you must pick your accessories carefully because some may seem like they are made for a different kind of roofing, but they actually aren’t.

Consider soft roof accessories, or more accurately, ventilation pipe roofing. It resembles the folding roof’s rifting visually, and sealing it will be very challenging because the passage element is made to fit the soft bitumen roof rather than the steel sheet.

In conclusion, Ruukki provides a wide selection of roofing products made to accommodate different demands and tastes. Ruukki’s lineup offers creative solutions that address all these aspects, whether you’re looking for sustainability, durability, or aesthetics.

Ruukki’s metal roofing options are particularly appealing to people who value durability. Their products are designed to endure severe weather, providing your house or building with long-term protection.

Ruukki excels in aesthetics, offering a vast array of colors, profiles, and finishes. Every architectural style can be complemented by a design, regardless of your preference for a traditional or modern aesthetic.

Furthermore, one of Ruukki’s main priorities is sustainability. Their roofing materials are energy-efficient and frequently composed of recyclable materials, which helps to meet environmental objectives.

To sum up, Ruukki prioritizes environmental responsibility and flexible design in addition to providing dependable roofing solutions. The strength, style, and sustainability you seek in roofing materials are all provided by Ruukki products, whether you’re building a new home or remodeling an old one.
